Loop Case Study

LOOP is an active initiative working to promote General Aviation within the UK and Ireland and publishes a monthly newspaper to the industry.

Loop want to bring new people into flying and then keep them flying by making sure they are aware of all the opportunities available to them.

This dual process of introducing "new blood" and keeping existing pilots flying aims to reverse the decline in the number of UK pilots over the past ten years (down 40% according to CAA figures) and revitalise General Aviation at the sharp end - flying clubs and schools all over the UK.

To achieve this, Loop have been working on a number of specific projects including the "learn to fly" campaign.

"Learn to Fly" works with identified marketing partners to introduce unique offers for flying lessons to new, budding pilots using a network of UK flying schools for the fulfilment.

The main vehicle for "Learn to Fly" is www.learntofly.aero.

We have developed a sophisticated, campaign-based, e-commerce solution for Loop's "Learn to Fly" project.

This solution has been used successfully to introduce a significant number of new pilots to the General Aviation sector through a number of campaigns run with national and regional marketing partners such as The Sunday Times, City AM and The Lincolnshire Echo.

Each campaign has unique offer for flying lessons using one or more aircraft types available at flying schools that are participating in the campaign. Customers are able to select their school and aircraft type and purchase the lessons online.

Credit/debit card payments are processed securely in real-time and the customer will receive an e-voucher to use for finalising the arrangement for their flying lessons.

The site also contains useful information content to describe the experience of flying for the first - in words, pictures and video and provides detailed information on each flying school.

Loop staff are able to set-up and manage each of the campaigns through the use of our content management and e-commerce solutions.
