Rivercottage.net is a website about food, where it comes from, and why that matters.
The site was set-up by the celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall in 2004 and is now one of the leading sites of its kind in the UK; standing for the principles of self-sufficiency, food integrity, and the consumption of local, seasonal produce.
Today, River Cottage consists of several different projects...
River Cottage HQ (Park Farm) is their base for running courses and events reflecting their philosophy – ranging from a night’s dining and entertainment, through to courses in foraging, curing, gardening, breadmaking, butchery and more.
River Cottage also has a Local Produce Store in Axminster, which sells a wide selection of everyday food items, books and smallholder supplies and a Canteen annexed to the Local Produce Store which serves meals during the day.
Other projects include television series for Channel 4, regular food columns, and a range of books, DVDs and online courses.
We have been working with River Cottage from the very start, developing the web site in line with the growth of the business...
Our work with Hugh has covered a number of projects that have selectively increased the capability of the web site to handle and support the management of a rich collection of information content, to establish and manage a very lively and active community forum and to introduce and then evolve an e-commerce service that sells a range of physical and virtual products.
Each of these services is based on our solutions that provide capability for content management, community features and e-commerce. This enables non-technical River Cottage staff to self-manage the information content and product catalogue and process and administer customer orders.
We've also provided hosting for the web site and taken responsiblity for the production and broadcast of the email marketing activity which is based around a monthly update from Hugh on "News from River Cottage".
